Batik

Batik is which one the art of painting, It's from indonesia.
It has been being known since 18th century, it was painted at lontar leaf. At that time people have been developing batik. They painted at lontar leaf, after that they painted at cloth and textile, and now we are painting at motor, car, blog template, and etc.
And they also developed the motive of batik, from motive animal and plant, after that motive abstract-like cloud, picture scroll (wayang beber), temple relief, and etc.
Actually batik is bundling the motive of painting with clothes decoration. The is relation Development batik in indonesian with development of majapahit kingdom and kingdoms at the end. Great Development of batik was happening at mataram kingdom era. And at solo kingdom and jogyakarta kingdom era. Batik is art of painting at cloths for clothes that be which one family of kings in indonesia last time.
At first batik is doing just in kraton (castle of indonesian kingdom) and works of art just for kings family and his followers. Because the are a lot of king's followers in outside "kraton" so they bring this art to outside kraton, and do at their home. At last this art was imitated by people sound-about kraton at last was imitated by the masses. Kinds of batik and the motives of traditional batik are so much. But kinds and motives suitable with region's philosophy and culture that so various. Indonesian culture that so much and various influence to reveal various of batik's motive and difference of batik in every places.
Last time colouring used indonesian plant among other things are fruit from morinda citrifolia, peltophorum, etc.
And the soda was ash soda and the salt was made from mud.
Spreading art of batik and be indonesian art, particularly javanese art, happened at the last 18th century or begining 19th century.
And batik that was made is hand made batik or painting batik untill at begining 20th century. At 1920 or after first world war there are batik-printing.

1. Batik kraton, this batik is origin all of batik that developed in indonesia. And its motive contain with life philosophy. This batik was made by princess and artist of batik that live round-about kraton. This motive is forbidden for the masses or it's just for king's family. Ex. Parang barong motive(lion chopping-knife, parang rusak motive (broken chopping-knife), udan liris motive (drizzle) etc.

2. Batik saudagaran (merchant)this batik was made by merchant society. It was made because they wanted make forbidden motive can be worn by the masses. And the colour is soga colour and some time royal blue.

3. Batik petani (farmer) is made by farmer's wife and is made for used leisure time. Some time this batik is rough and isn't soft. It was painted by unprofessional person. Because it was worked as moonlight. And the colour is like batik saudagaran.

4. Batik belanda (holland), this is batik whose motive was made by dutch-man, the motive is europe flower-like tulip flower and character of fairy tale who famous in europe.

5. Batik jawa hokokai, this batik was made in japanese colonial era. This batik was in north beach of java. The great motive of this batik is sakura and krisan.
